Start Service
If your meter is currently connected to Idaho Power service, the service will be transferred to your name within three business days of the requested date. There will be no interruption of service.
If your meter is not currently connected to Idaho Power service, the meter will be connected on the date requested, unless otherwise noted.
A service fee may apply when starting new electrical service. The fee will be displayed on your first month’s bill. Fees may include one of the following:
-
- $30 Service Establishment fee
- $30 Service Connection fee
- $8.50 Remote Meter Connection fee
If there are active services in your name that you no longer need, please complete a move request to transfer your service from an old address to a new one, or complete a stop request to cancel service at that location(s) that service is no longer needed.
If you have an emergency request to turn on service, please call us at 208-388-2323 or 1-800-488-6151 (outside the Treasure Valley).
Stop Service
Your service may be disconnected as early as 8 a.m. on the day requested.
There are no fees associated with stopping service.
Your final bill will be mailed to the address on file or emailed if your account is enrolled in Paperless Billing.
If you are stopping service at multiple locations, it will be necessary to request a separate stop service request for each location.
The service will be disconnected on the requested date, unless a new customer requests service be transferred to their name on that date.
If there is a landlord on this property with a continuous service agreement, the service will be returned to the landlord’s name with no interruption in service.
Miscellaneous
No, you do not need to be home to start or stop service. However, clear access to your meter location may be required.
Summary Billing provides customers with one monthly bill for multiple service locations. All service locations or service agreements linked to the Summary Billing Account must be the same type of service (i.e., residential, commercial, or agricultural) and in the same state (i.e., Idaho or Oregon). Qualified Summary Billing customers may also use Budget Pay or Auto Pay.
There is no limit to the number of service locations or service agreements. Summary Billing will reflect the total due for all locations on the account(s) and customers must pay the entire amount due.
If the power is on at the new service address and your balance is less than four years old, any outstanding balance of less than $100 will be due, along with the amount of your first bill at your new address, on the bill’s due date. Balances of $100 or more will be due before new service can begin. If your power is off at the new service address, any balance that is less than 4 years old must be paid in full prior to starting new service.
If your balance has been in collections for more than four years, it is not required to be paid to start service. However, you can make a payment with Idaho Power. Idaho Power will notify the collection agency of your new address and telephone number. Additionally, the collection agency may have assessed interest charges on the balance that would need to be paid to them directly.
